A new chapter for Earth Sole: Introducing Aard Footwear

Big things are happening at Earth Sole, and we are very excited to share this new chapter of our story with you. As of the first of November, the South African part of Earth Sole has officially turned into the new brand Aard Footwear - and we couldn't be more happy and excited about our new journey and collaboration ahead.

Earth Sole is expanding and we're E X C I T E D!

In South Africa, we’re rebranding as Aard Footwear, a name inspired by the Afrikaans word for "earth." The young and passionate new owner, Zoe van der Westhuizen, is excited to take on this challenge and expand Aard Footwear within South Africa—the country where it all started 2.5 years ago. Zoe’s vision is to grow the brand locally, and to extend its reach through her beautiful new studio in Noordhoek, Cape Town, alongside other shops, markets, and online platforms across the country.

It is her dream to make Aard Footwear more available for the locals, to create more employment for her growing local team, and to create a personal connection with her customers. Aard Footwear will keep Earth Soles core values—high-quality craftsmanship, using repurposed leather for sustainability, and to focus on giving back to the community through sharing 1% of her profit. What will happen with Earth Sole?

At the same time, Anouk Anansi, the founder of Earth Sole, will focus on expanding the brand globally, with an emphasis on strengthening Earth Sole's online presence and reaching customers around the world. Also, to expand the range of products, with the dream of kids, boots and slipper-selection. All in close collaboration with Zoe and Aard Footwear.

This shift in roles is not just a change of names or titles; it's a natural progression for both Zoe and Anouk as they follow their passions and proudly grow their beloved brands. As Aard Footwear grows in South Africa and Earth Sole expands its global reach, both are committed to maintaining the same core values that have always been at the heart of their work: sustainability, quality, and a love for creating footwear that makes a difference – for both heart and sole!
